San Diego International Airport Train Transfers
Upon arrival at San Diego International Airport (SAN), passengers can choose from several ground transportation services, including rental cars, taxis, rideshares, hotel shuttle services, and buses.
Although there are no train stations at the airport, there are several train connections available nearby in downtown San Diego.
America Plaza Trolley Station
The nearest train station to the airport is America Plaza Trolley Station.
Aside from taxis, another convenient option is MTS bus Route No. 992 to/from the airport. They are frequently available from San Diego International Airport Terminals 1 and 2.
They operate between 05:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Passengers can follow signs to the bus stops from the Baggage Claim area of their terminal.
There are two easy ways to get between the airport and MTS (Metropolitan Transit System) services.
There’s Route 992, which stops right outside of Baggage Claim at Terminals 1 and 2. It only takes 15 minutes to get to/from Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego, which connects with all major transit options, including three Trolley lines, three Rapid bus lines, the COASTER, and Amtrak.
There’s a stop at Kettner Blvd. and W. Broadway, across the street from Santa Fe Depot and other connecting transit services.
Route 992 is available every 15 minutes for most of the day and 7 days a week. One-way fares are just $2.50 ($1.25 for Seniors, Disabled, Medicare Recipients, and Youth).
From the airport, passengers can alight at America Plaza Trolley Station to switch to their final destination by train anywhere in San Diego.
