Upon arrival at San Diego International Airport (SAN), passengers can choose from several ground transportation services, including rental cars, taxis, rideshares, hotel shuttle services, and buses.

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Public Buses

MTS Route 992

This runs between Downtown San Diego, Terminal 1, Terminal 2 East, and Terminal 2 West. Route 992 buses are available from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., arriving every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.

Route 992 connects to several major stations in Downtown San Diego:

  • Santa Fe Transit Center (Santa Fe Depot & America Plaza station) served by Amtrak, Coaster, Blue Line and Green Line of the San Diego Trolley, Rapid buses; and
  • City College Transit Center is served by the Blue Line and Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley, and Rapid buses.

A one-way bus fare starts at $2.50 per boarding. Discounts apply to qualified passengers.

MTS Route 923

Operates between Ocean Beach (outside the airport on North Harbor Drive) from 5:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with buses arriving every 30 minutes.

On weekdays, buses extend into Downtown San Diego. Bus fare starts at $2.50 per boarding. Discounts apply to qualified passengers.

San Diego Flyer Shuttle

A free electric shuttle bus service operates between Old Town Transit Center, Terminal 1, Terminal 2 East, and Terminal 2 West, seven days a week, with buses arriving every 20 to 30 minutes.

At Old Town, Transit Center passengers can transfer to Amtrak, Coaster, with Blue Line and Green Line trains of the San Diego Trolley. No bus fare is required.
